Here it is, finished, as I promised. 30 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas, gallery wrap painted edges (the sunflowers wrap around. “Enchanted”

It’s been a bit since I posted because I was working like mad in all my free time (of which there is very little) to finish the new studio and move in. So, bruised and banged, still getting paint from my hair, it’s done and I’m in. It feels so good, I don’t want to leave it and don’t look at it on days I’m headed to the gallery cuz if I do, that’s where I’m drawn! So, here are some pics for you: this is looking from the dining room, down into the studio. Sorry it’s a little dark, the light from the windows confused the camera!
This look in from the master bath, which is on the same level as the studio (three steps down from the rest of the house.)
and this is standing in the corner by the first window, looking back toward the stairs and the dining room. I’m particularly proud of the way the rammed earth wall with the engraved zia came out painted. I didn’t know if would work, but I love it!
here is a painting I just finished:
It is 30 high and 24 wide, acrylic and gold on canvas. “A River Runs Through It”.
And this is what you see on my table in the studio photos. It is a diptich..two 36 x 12 canvases, and also acrylic. I hope to finish it on Sunday…or maybe I’ll take it to the Visitor Center and finish it on Saturday. We’ll see.
I’m going to call it “Transitions: Self Reflection”
So, you see, I have been busy! In the meantime, John and I celebrated 21 years of marriage, and I was re-elected the board of the Chamber of Commerce. That’s enough for two weeks!
Typically Sundays are for watering the plants, doing the laundry and spending the afternoons in my studio. Today, I begin a new experiment. Today, I paint at the Angel Fire Visitors Center. From 1pm to 4pm on Sunday afternoons, I’ll paint there as live demo and hopefully get some new work done at the same time!
Which reminds me, the image in the header is a new pastel that I did when taking a class from Martin Pavletich (great fun!). I love pastel. The big issue with it is that it really must go behind glass. Sigh.
Anyhoo….This Sunday is Watercolor. Next week maybe acrylic, or pastel or scratchboard. What do I hope to accomplish? Sales, of course. Sales of my work, my DVDs and private lessons and workshops. Plus, it will just plain be fun!
So, if you’re in Angel Fire on a Sunday, drop by the Visitor Center in the afternoon and say hi!
The house smells like cinnamon and nutmeg, the turkey is in the smoker outside and I happily had time to finish (I think) the painting I’ve been working on for two months. It was quite a journey. 48 x 24 gallery wrap canvas. And acrylic. When staring for the first time at that big white expanse I quivered. Today, I quivered again when I cleaned the brushes and closed the paint.
Here is the result:
I’ll look at it for a while before I touch it again. I’m calling it “Angel Fire High”
And I’ll start planning the next one…but that will have to wait till Monday. Tomorrow night is a 4th Friday Holiday Kickoff reception and Saturday is live theatre, and so is Sunday afternoon. So begins the next season. Cheers! and Happy Thanksgiving!
